An accessible site.

This site is designed to work for as many people as possible. Here's what we've done, where we're not yet perfect, and how to reach us if you hit a problem. We want LegalDocuments.co.uk to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or who adjust text size and colour to suit their eyesight.

What we aim for

The site aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, which is the UK public-sector standard and widely considered the baseline for a professional site.

What works well

All content is structured with semantic HTML (proper headings, landmarks, lists)

Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard alone
Text resizes to 200% without loss of functionality or content
Colour contrast meets or exceeds WCAG AA thresholds (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text)
Forms have visible labels and clear validation messages
No content flashes or animates faster than 3 times per second
Links are visually distinct from surrounding text (underline or colour) and have descriptive text — no "click here"
PDFs and external forms always open in a new tab with a visible indicator
The site works without JavaScript for core reading content

Where we're still improving

We're honest about where we fall short:

Some older rewritten pages have content structure that could be improved — we're working through these progressively
A small number of embedded government forms link to PDFs hosted on gov.uk that we cannot control the accessibility of
Detailed help-text for complex forms (like the N1 court form) is text-heavy; we're experimenting with visual summaries
Voice-control compatibility (e.g. Dragon NaturallySpeaking) has not been explicitly tested — if you use voice control and encounter problems, please tell us

Using the helpline for accessibility reasons

If you have difficulty reading on a screen or prefer to speak to someone about a legal matter, our telephone helpline is a good alternative. Law Express's advisers can talk you through the same kind of information we publish on the site, at your own pace.

Report a problem

If you encounter something on this site that's not accessible, we want to know. Please use our contact form and select "Accessibility issue" as the subject. Include:

The page URL
What went wrong (you couldn't reach a button, content didn't read properly, text was too small, etc.)
What assistive technology you were using (screen reader, keyboard only, browser zoom, etc.)

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 working days and fix urgent problems within 10 working days. Lower-priority fixes are grouped and addressed in our monthly update cycle.

Enforcement

If you're not happy with how we've responded, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in relation to accessibility.
